As prior, I add “unexpected fun” each year at the black tie event by not hiring the “official show producer” ( who pitched $12,000 worth of floral arrangements, candles. colored table cloths and projected logos ) and using my own creativity (and DIY skills) to “brand the room.”
Each year, the entire night had a theme: Rat Pack, jazz, Cole Porter elegance, etc. I followed the theme with my large round “table mats.” I Photoshopped the art myself and had a large format digital shop do the output. The centerpieces are cheap from a floral vases wholesaler, filled with a sheet of output and battery lights. The whole cost was 66% less and 1000% more interesting and appreciated.
I made the images by buying posters, CDs, etc and scanning and “rebuilding” the images. I did NOT follow any copyright rules. I did not feel TOO illegal as the event was a ONE HOUR party and I mentally “justified” the action as I was honorable to the stars. Also, the images never left the room. Well… until now.
